Your service is essential for your own spiritual growth. Jesus was known for putting others first. When you serve in the church you are walking in his example; a growing Christian is always a serving Christian.

Are you ready to take the next step?

 Serve in a ministry

There are many areas of service needing new volunteers. Youth ministry, preschool and nursery care, Vacation Bible School, Ushers/Greeters, sound and lights team, and many other ministries will connect you to other adults.

Join the choir

Our seasonal choirs are enjoyable opportunities to serve with others to provide great musical messages for the church while being involved with people you might not know. Choir time is always a good bonding time.

Shadow Program

  • If there is an area that you think you might be interested in serving but are not quite sure if it is a good fit for you, the shadow program is a chance for you to observe someone doing the job so you can see how it is currently done. The shadow program means there is no pressure and no obligation.
  • If you like it, you can choose to come back and if not, you can try something else. This program will allow you to explore any ministry that interests you. The more ministries you try out, the more likely you will find the perfect place to serve. It is our hope that this program will make you happier in your work and provide more opportunities for you to use your God given talents in His service.
  • When you volunteer, you step outside of your world and learn to touch the lives of others.
  • Another significant benefit of serving is that it will encourage you to develop your gifts and skills; a very valuable asset that may be adapted in other settings, such as careers. Serving also performs a needed service in our church and possibly in the life of someone else. When you get involved, you become a part of a larger picture. There are lots of opportunities to serve here at Immanuel Baptist Church. We need YOU.

Opportunities to serve at IBC

Welcome Center

The Welcome Center is “Command Central” for all guest services. This is the place everyone gathers for information and directions. Welcome Center Hosts, Hostesses, and Runners will respond to all questions and requests for assistance. If you are a friendly people person, this may be a great place for you to serve. For more information about serving in this area please contact the church office at 878-1021.

Church Library

The church library offers a variety of books and other materials that may be checked out by church members in order to aid them in their spiritual growth. Volunteers that serve in the church library usually serve during the time the library is open:

  •  Sunday – 8:45 a.m. - 9:15 a.m., 10:15 a.m. - 10:45 a.m., and 11:45 a.m. - 11:59 a.m.
  • Wednesday – 5:45 p.m.  – 6:15 p.m.

Nursery and Preschool

God is in the church nursery. The Bible has specific promises about God’s presence when children are welcomed and loved in Jesus’ name. When you serve in the nursery, you are being entrusted with the most important (and vulnerable) members of the church family. There is no greater treasure on this side of heaven than the little ones God has given us.

T he church nursery is the first contact young families will have with our church. Your friendly greeting and exceptional care for their children can make a great first impression for our church. If they don’t feel like their children are safe, they will not return. Your service in the church nursery allows church goers to focus on worship, rather than worrying about their children. The first (and sometimes lasting) feelings a child will have toward church is formed in the nursery department.  Your service in the church nursery is a powerful opportunity for prayer. If every nursery worker would spend several minutes praying over the children in their care, imagine how God will begin to change this coming generation.

Sunday School

Elementary School

We want kids to see how God's Word fits in to their lives, to learn how to talk to him, and to build friendships that will last. In this ministry volunteers show up and work together in their unique roles to create a fun environment for elementary kids to learn who God is and how he wants them to live. We could not do this without the incredible volunteers who offer their gifts to serve our kids. For more information about serving in this area please contact Jamie Pafford in the church office at 878-1021.

Middle School

Middle School volunteers create an engaging environment for middle school students by greeting, facilitating discussion, or helping with activities. This ministry exists to REACH unbelievers with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, TEACH middle school students God's Word, SERVE others and WORSHIP Jesus Christ in order to glorify God. This ministry is specifically designed to meet the unique needs of middle school students and to focus on outreach in the surrounding communities targeted to families with children in this age group.

Many Christians are looking for a place to connect where they can use their musical gifts, talents and love of music. IBC offers a variety of opportunities in this area (Contemporary and Traditional). Our use of technology continually changes and grows. Each week we use video and audio production, website development, media projection and much more. We realize that technology is an element of church life that will continue to be an integral part, as our world further develops new technology.
